Electric Grid Structure

An electrical grid is a network that delivers electricity from power plants to consumers, enabling the transmission and distribution of power. It consists of interconnected power plants, transmission lines, and distribution systems. The grid ensures electricity is available on demand to homes, businesses, and industries.
*Components of an Electrical Grid: Power Plants: Generate electricity from various sources like coal, natural gas, nuclear energy, and renewable resources (solar, wind, etc.). Transmission Lines: High-voltage lines that carry electricity from power plants to substations and then to distribution networks. Substations: Step-down transformers that reduce voltage for distribution to consumers. Distribution Lines: Connect substations to individual customers (homes, businesses).
*How the Grid Works: Electricity is generated at power plants and sent to substations. Substations adjust the voltage of the electricity to match the needs of the distribution system. The electricity travels through distribution lines to reach individual consumers. The grid is interconnected, meaning different parts of the grid can share power to maintain reliability and stability.
Our grid send electricty to a substation in Dukumpani. Our grid convert 11kV generating voltage current into the 132 kV that can transmit to dukumpani substation. Our grid connect to a hydro electric generating plant of 24 MW where we have 3 turbine of 8 MW where we produce peak power of 28 MW/hr in season time.
